A protected environment for birds
The banc d’Arguin nature reserve is a small corner of paradise, to be discovered absolutely. Located at the entrance of the Arcachon Bay, facing the Dune du Pilat and the Pointe du Cap Ferret, it continuously changes shape according to the winds and sea currents.
Its dune vegetation makes it an important nesting and refuge site for protected birds such as the caugek tern, oyster magpie or interrupted collar gravel. The reserve is also an important site for many wintering and migratory species that rest there in winter or stop for a while to recover the strength needed for their journey.
If you feel like it,SEPANSO‘s volunteer nature guides are available in July and August to answer your questions. They also offer a free visit to the Banc d’Arguin (Wednesday afternoon). Meet me at the exhibition hut.
