      Learn to surf around Arcachon Bay

      Qualified professionals provide starter and refresher surfing and bodyboarding lessons in the surf schools of Arcachon and La Teste-de-Buch. Learners of all levels can come and challenge the waves at one-on-one surfing lessons or as a group. Thrills and pleasure for water sports guaranteed!

      Perfect surfing conditions all year round

      With a season favourable for large swells, namely from October to May, the waves on La Teste-de-Buch’s extensive beaches, Daniel Meller Beach and the beach of La Corniche are great for surfing all year round. The sandy seabed of these ocean beaches encourages the formation of beach breaks and clean, big, glassy waves, particularly at the La Salie surfing spot. Newbies and experienced surfers will both be satisfied!

      For experienced surfers, there are a few accessible surfing spots available around the Bay. The surfing spot at La Pointe is located at the entrance to the Bay of Arcachon and offers a sumptuous view of the Dune of Pilat. Le Truc Vert surfing spot one hour away from Arcachon is reputed for its great waves. In Lège Cap-Ferret, the spot in Le Porge offers reassuring surfing conditions for everyone.

        Enjoy the spectacle of surfing competitions

        Every year in May, stages of the French Cup and France Master Bodyboard Championship take place at La Salie Beach. For years, the best bodyboarders have competed on the waves and provide the visitors with a great show of their sport.

        If you are a surfing enthusiast, some of the prestigious stages of the World Surfing Championships, the Quiksilver Pro and the Roxy Pro, gather the best surfers on the globe at Hossegor which is just one hour away from Arcachon by car. While staying on the Bay of Arcachon, you can make the most of the competitions during the day and avoid the crowds staying there when night falls. If you want to surf in the most famous surfing spots of the Atlantic yourself – Seignosse, Hossegor and Capbreton – nothing could be simpler from Arcachon.
