The walk between the fishing port, the marina and the Aiguillon district is very picturesque.

If you enjoy sea air and are looking for authenticity, the port of Arcachon is the place for you. With 2.700 mooring rings, it is the second largest marina on the Atlantic Coast after Brest. It’s a place which hides many surprises!

Nestled halfway between the Autumn Town of Arcachon and La Teste de Buch, the marina is the only deep-water port in the Bay. It neighbours the fishing port and the oyster-farming port at L’Aiguillon. In addition to having picture postcard landscapes, these authentic locations are also lively and a perfect place to stroll or ride a bike.

Since the origins of the town, Arcachon has perpetuated its fishing activities and oyster-farming. Advice to early birds, let yourself be tempted by a fascinating visit of the Fish Market of Arcachon to discover the wealth of the Bay of Arcachon and the Bay of Biscay beyond it.

      You will enjoy strolling along the length of Quai Patrimoine the long quayside reserved for the Bay’s traditional boats: pinasses, loups, old sailboats. Let yourself be rocked by the movement of the water and the gentle swaying of the moored boats during your walk. Walk up Quai Goslar towards the Maison de la Mer to the viewpoint from the monument for those lost at sea” for a wonderful view over the marina.

      The life of the port is organised around fishing activities, but also around the traders who contribute to making it such a thriving, lively place. Continue your walk eastwards to discover the colourful cabins with red-tiled roofs in the old fisherman’s quarter at the Pointe de L’Aiguillon. This oyster-farming port is absolutely charming and ranks among the most picturesque and photogenic locations in Arcachon.
