DIGITAL INNOVATIONS AT THE SERVICE OF THE ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION

Today, this transition is based on 3 pillars: the agricultural transition, the energy transition and the industrial transition.

The conference will present the current state of play in these 3 sectors, as well as major innovations offering solutions, both near and far, to complex climate and environmental problems.

Agricultural transition: how to feed 7 billion people sustainably? The environmental cost of meat production and the forecast increase in demand for its production over the coming years are driving the development of cultured meat (cellular agriculture, tissue engineering) and plant-based meat (vegetarian foods with the taste and appearance of meat), which should account for 50% of the world’s meat production by 2040.

The energy transition: reducing the use of carbon-based energies requires innovation in a number of key sectors: electricity storage, CO2 capture and the evolution of nuclear power.

Industrial transition: today’s linear economy consumes 100 billion tonnes of raw materials a year in the manufacture of goods, and recycles only 8% at the end of the chain. The industrial transition requires a shift towards a circular economy, building up collection and recycling channels.
