The Tourist Office and Arcachon Expansion

The Arcachon Tourist Office is one of four entities within the Arcachon Expansion structure, created on 01/01/2002 in response to the local authority’s desire to develop the town’s tourism economy on a sustainable basis.

The five departments of the structure aim to develop the tourist economy in their own areas of competence, by pooling financial and human resources:

  • the Tourist Office and its associated office, the CNA (Centre Nautique d’Arcachon)
  • the Palais des Congrès, certified Quali Congrès since 2004
  • the Animation department, which develops events
  • Arcachon Culture, which since January 2006 has been part of Arcachon Expansion, managing the Olympia theater, cultural programming and summer concerts at the Velodrome.
  • the OCA (Office de Commerce et d’Artisanat) since January 2019.

Arcachon Culture was awarded the “Scène conventionnée du Ministère de la Culture” label in 2007.

The role of the Tourist Office: our missions Welcome, inform and support you

The Arcachon Tourist Office is part of the Arcachon Expansion public-private partnership. It is a public service of an industrial and commercial nature.

The strategic focus of Arcachon Expansion and the Arcachon Tourist Office is the economic and tourism development of the Arcachon destination.

To implement this strategic choice, the Tourist Office has its own specific missions:

  • welcoming customers
  • customer information
  • implementing the tourism quality approach
  • promoting the destination
  • coordinating local tourism players (maintaining relations between the Tourist Office and socio-professionals; optimizing services for them; ensuring the consistency of Arcachon’s image; promoting the Tourist Office’s activities).

The Tourist Office’s reception and information mission makes it a showcase for the local tourism offer, and consequently for local service providers (who, by virtue of its SPIC status, cannot be members, but partners in joint actions).

The Tourist Office is therefore responsible for promoting the local tourist offer, bringing together a disparate range of services, coordinating the divergent interests of socio-professionals, encouraging exchanges between these same socio-professionals within its Board of Directors, and finally evaluating the results of its action in favor of customers and socio-professionals.
