France’s oldest weekly celebrates its 70th anniversary.

Founded on May 16, 1953 by Françoise Giroud and Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber, France’s oldest newsmagazine celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

Over the decades, L’Express has become a benchmark medium with a clear and asserted ambition: to defend rationality, science, progress and liberalism, and to support Europe and democracy. Since 1953, the editorial team has embraced Françoise Giroud’s mission to “lift the veil”, with in-depth investigations, major stories and high-quality writing.

Initiated in January 2020, under the leadership of its new shareholder, Alain Weill, the relaunch of L’Express continues, with Eric Chol at the helm of the editorial team.

L’Express’s 70 journalists are committed to a journalism that explains, investigates and bears witness to the transformations taking place in our country and around the world.

A journalism based on high standards, through the weekly, the website and the app, newsletters, videos, audio and podcasts.
